Go go gadget Registration!
Head on over to our Register Page and follow the instructions to register yourself for the 2018 Ride 🙂
Note that this year we are trialling a new Registration feature….Group registrations are now possible!
This is primarily a tool we are using to find out which participants would like to stick together. Please be aware that the groups may need to be modified to keep a well balanced ride in terms of group numbers and average ride speed. We have always tried to keep groups together and this year is no exception – so please nominate a group captain and if you want your group to be private, don’t forget to set a password!
To be clear, this is the first time we’ve tried this feature and we don’t really know how well it will work. If it causes issues with registration we’ll just turn it off and do it the old fashioned way! 🙂
Also an update on Everyday Hero – unfortunately there has been a small delay in activating the Fundraising pages with Everyday Hero. We should be up and going in the next few days however so please keep an eye on your emails (registered riders will be notified via email). A post will also be made here and on Facebook.
Happy registering, don’t forget to start training!
As our regular and long term riders are aware, the BtBD committee tries to keep the ride as full of entertainment as possible. After months of raising funds, followed by a hard day of riding, it’s important to recognise the valuable contribution of our riders by rewarding them with quality live entertainment.
This year, local duo The Wendy Dany Duo will be playing in Ayr on Saturday afternoon from 3pm until 6:30pm.
Innisfail-born, Townsville-based Wendy de Munari teams up with experienced French musician Dany Fourny to present a stylish, unique blend of French and English jazz, latin rhythms and easy listening music.
This year the designer (read the Chairman, Henry Fracchia) of the ride jersey has used two inspirational elements in the design. The first being the “La Vie Claire” ride jersey. Firstly, the La Vie Claire ride team is one of the most powerful in Europe, who doesn’t want to look powerful. More importantly, “La Vie Claire” actually is French for “ a clear life” , a clarity to way we proceed in life. We thought that statement might be a great theme for the ride.
Then we thought about some of the great things in life, that being, art and music, and immediately Eric Clapton came to mind. Eric is a great musician and a man who has seen and struggled with the some of the darker elements to a life. So, the inclusion of an element of Eric was important.
The guitar that Eric is playing in the photograph is called the Crash 3 guitar. In 1997 Eric met well known street artist John “Crash” Matos, who went on to create 3 graffiti inspired guitar bodies. One is still owed by Eric, one was given to a Charity, and Crash 3 was sold by Sotheby’s for $300,000 dollars.
This year Blackchrome (our jersey supplier) and major sponsor to the ride, has been tasked with the creation of the Banish the Black Dog Ride Jersey.
WHAT WILL BE THE OUTCOME??? WATCH THIS SPACE!!!
The time has finally come!
After much planning, developing, and chasing our tails (like all good pups do), we are finally ready to go live with the new site!
In fact you already know this, because you’re reading this article on the new site!
Check it out, test it, try to break it (don’t break it please!), and let us know your feedback.
We’ve tried to have a modern look and feel but we also wanted to make navigation simple and intuitive.
It’s important that our riders can find the information they want, from ride information through to registration links.
